Making her way to the i-wave spotlight this week is perhaps one of the sweetest and most talented vocalists in web3. All the way from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Paula Pazos is here, and she’s got something hella cool to share with her latest drop!
As Paula states often in our interview, web3 is for the super creatives. What a treat to get to experience her new single, “MODO AVION” — now minting on sound! — as a freaking VIRTUAL ESCAPE ROOM GAME! Yes, you heard that right. Months in the making and with a team at least eight deep, this is the kind of original experimentation and vision I love to see most in *le space.*
First, we’re presented with a simple choice; do we want to play, or go straight to the song? Choose to play and you’re taken to Paula’s sleek bonfire website. A wallet gets you in the door. Collect the free key via Zora via the Optimism chain (with a minimal gas fee). Then, make your way to the escape room!… Without giving anything away, this game is adorable, challenging, and clever. The whole experience is seriously a delight (headphones ON by the way!).
As for the song, it’s probably the funnest and lightest I’ve ever heard Paula on a track. I’m a huge fan of her work on a recent collab with Xcelencia and tulengua, “dias prometidos,” and her trademark angelic vocals on her solo released music (check out her gorgeous cover of “Breathe”), all of which leans more high drama. So, I’m happy or see her loosen up a bit over a reggaeton beat on a pop track about being present with friends, and living in the moment!
Between pulling off this super cool virtual escape room song release and her excellent catalog to date, I know Paula is just getting started in web3 and in general. Hear from her in her own words below, and try not to get lost in the escape room!
Artist Statement of the Moment:
Singer and songwriter from Buenos Aires, Argentina. I have experience performing live and recording commercial singles since 2010. I write music in English and in Spanish and I released my first album in November of 2022 and had the chance of sharing my music live in my city and also in Madrid and Barcelona.
I started my journey in web3 at the end of 2021 and it helped me to find my place to create because I love technology! I recorded my live album on video and shared it with my collectors (it’s now available on my Youtube account: misspennielane). In August 19th I am dropping MODO AVION, my music NFT that comes with its own virtual escape room which I created from scratch.
How are you feeling now?
Oooh! Many things: excited, anxious, happy.
What does success mean to you?
Getting to complete the projects that I dream of, like this next drop.
What work of yours has you excited & inspired right now?
MODO AVION for sure! I have been working on this project since January. It envolved starting a virtual escape room from scratch: music, content, logic of the game, design. I had an AMAZING team that helped me make this happen and I am so happy!
What does web3 mean to you, and what excites you about it?
Creativity for sure, that is what web3 is for me. Genuine support from people who like my music ❤️
