three things i love about grlkrash, jamee, & pastel’s X Space

What’s going on, nation? A lot tbh but here’s something positive! Today, I’m sharing THREE things I love about the weekly X space co-hosted by web3 pioneers grlkrash, jamee cornelia, & leo pastel

Last time on #threethings, I connected w/ Jadyn Violet to get some life advice from someone who’s set web3 ablaze. This time around, let’s talk about the best music space (and it’s NOT web3-specific — which is important, and we’ll get into that later) on X: the weekly Friday night one co-hosted by grlkrash, jamee cornelia, & leo pastel, a seriously stacked trio if ever there was one.

1. “This is a place where we question, not answer.” – jamee cornelia

I’ve been trying to figure out what makes this space so special. I heard jamee say the above sentence on a recent space, and it really spoke to the energy that the three co-hosts bring.

There are plenty of web3 music spaces out there, and many that I’m sure provide a lot of value to the listener. But instead of focusing on this week’s latest web3 news a la The White Men With Newsletters to ride buzz, these three do the equivalent of “writing what they know,” and that involves presenting their own expertise & experience around various topics for creatives, as well as being respectful to all who join & offer something along the way. It’s not about them; it’s about all of us coming together to better ourselves as artists, creators, etc. (or at least it feels that way to me!).

2. This is a gathering of great minds in web3 and beyond.

In the few of their spaces I’ve caught on rewind, a variety of people have come up to speak, often from different sectors (developers, marketers, etc.). If the hosts set a tone of learning together as I described in point #1 above, add some additional highly experienced, quality opinions into that mix. Inspiration can be hard to sustain, especially the inspiration you get from others, but these weekly convos leave me buzzing with ideas and motivation to get into them. Indeed, grl often tweets how inspiring the spaces are after they wrap, and after listening in, I get it, because I FEEL it too!

3. There’s more than meets the eye; these convos go deeper than many.

I think we are in a particularly frustrating time in X world with blue checks holding so much power in terms of tweets even getting seen by people who already follow you — not unlike Instagram & Facebook tbh, but it’s sad to see X turn into an engagement frenzy.

Anyway, we’re all playing an engagement game to an extent, and while the three hosts plug the space main topic heavily throughout the week, it’s definitely only a jumping off point. And sometimes, the twists & turns taken are where the real gems lie. All that to say: if you’re not particularly excited about the one-line topic, still give it a try and see where it goes. You might be delightfully surprised; this crew is here to dig deep.

With all that said, here’s the best part: MAD people come to these spaces because of how solid they are, and yet, the energy and intention from grl, jamee, & pastel remains. We’ve all seen the web3 music space change rapidly over the last few years, and many of changed with it. I think it’s shown me how important consistency and authenticity is to me.

Here are three artists who are working hard as artists/creators in web3 & beyond, and sharing part of that journey with whoever wants to be a part of it. Check it out and see for yourself.
