iridescent wave: remix party (first wave)

Happy summer, and happy Pride! Once upon a time, iridescent wave kicked off as a web3 music blog. Starting this week, we begin our foray into MAKING MUSIC, and I invite everyone in the iridescent wave community to be a part of it!

here and queer

Introducing: iridescent wave: remix party (first wave), the first ever i-wave remix contest. This remix contest — the first of its kind on Celo — will celebrate artist/producers with marginalized identities coming together in collaboration to create, explore, and connect. In honor of Pride month, the contest begins in June with the launch of this exclusive remix party launch NFT to celebrate.

the rules:

  • Any artists who identify as a woman and/or queer are welcome to submit!
  • The track being remixed is an unreleased Celia Inside song, “Show You How.” Here’s the track.
  • Here are the stems
  • All remixes must be at least one minute long.
  • All remixes must use at least three stems from the original track.
  • All remixes must be submitted by 11:59pm EST on August 10th.*
  • All remixes must be submitted via this iridescent wave submission form.

the prizes:

  • $250 Celo USDC for first place.
  • $100 Celo USDC for second place.
  • $75 Celo USDC for third place.

All winning remixers will:

  • have their remix released at a later date as a music NFT in the first ever iridescent wave: remix party (first wave) collection. Each song edition will be available on the Celosphere at the price of 3 Celo per NFT with 3000 total editions available in the collection (1000 per song). The royalty split for each music NFT in the collection will be as follows: 25% 1st place winner, 25% 2nd place winner, 25% 3rd place winner, and 25% iridescent wave.
  • have their remix released at a later date on DSPs via iridescent wave (artists must be signed up with DistroKid to receive streaming royalties).
  • have the opportunity to launch their own Celo collection.
  • be featured on the iridescent wave blog.

the support:

We are all stronger when we support each other. Throughout the contest, there will be at least two different listening + sharing Google Meet calls scheduled for any participating artists to share their work — remix contest works in progress or other work is welcome! Come through to connect with other artists, get feedback, and share what you’ve been working on.

__

That’s it; that’s the tea. If you’ve been itching to get back into production mode but have been needing a little push, let this remix contest be the motivation you’ve been looking for to get you back on your DAW and finishing songs! See you out there!
