iridescent wave

an independent web3 music blog strongly featuring women/qpoc artists

part 1: why i’m starting iridescent wave

I have a lot of ideas, and it’s time for me to bring them all to life. One by one! 🙂

Hi! I’m Celia Inside (pronounced Celia IN-side a la the 1994 song by the Cardigans of the same name), an artist, podcaster, radio show host, and more. And now I’m making a web3 music blog! It’s called “iridescent wave.”

Here’s why I’m starting this blog:

  • Idk about you, but I need curation in the web3 music space. I am as excited & high on web3 as anyone, but as it grows and more artists get involved, it’s getting harder to sort through all of the noise. And there is a LOT of noise — at any given time, you can find 1-2 NFT musician Twitter spaces running live while sound xyz’s artists sell out a new batch of song NFTs on the daily. I’m here to give you permission to slow down, speak on your project beyond a fleeting Twitter space or Discord call, and pass it on! This blog is for everyone who can’t live on Twitter (that’s absurd & exhausting), who isn’t in a million Discords & NFT projects, and who wants to learn + connect at a healthier pace.
  • We need more women &/or queer artists, and especially people of color, in web3. Yes, you know that — that one is pretty self-explanatory. I have already created Girl Powa! over on the Audius Discord — a radio show that showcases artists who fall into these categories — because I need that space. So here I go making some more space for us in a new way.
  • I want to connect with more artists/creators in the space, and this seems like a mutually beneficial way to do that. I am showcasing you & your music, you hopefully post/share, and we all get a little shine / dopamine kick / whatever the hell we’re doing on the internet 24/7 these days!
  • Iridescent = gay! And colorful, diverse, beautifully multifaceted. To quote my gf and co-collaborator, artist Ellis Sparxx: “Something that’s moving and shifting but you don’t see coming, unless you know where/how to see it.”
here’s my queer ass music video for my latest vid, “No Attachments (You),” which MIGHT be coming your way in a web3 way soon 🙂
  • A blog dedicated to featuring diverse voices in web3 music feels like an authentic way I can contribute to this space. I, like you, hope to succeed in releasing my own NFTs; I want co-signs and shoutouts and all that shit for myself, and I also want to be a force for good in this already very confusing crypto-fueled web place. I want to and like to build cool shit. I also have excellent taste. This blog project is something I can do to help others while also helping myself make music my full-time dream job.
  • Music fans need gateways into web3. I’m a bridge builder, and honestly need more convincing myself that crypto isn’t a big pyramid scheme lol SO! This welcoming corner of the internet can hopefully become a friendly welcome space for web3 new kids.

That’s all for now! Join the wave. 🌊
