WELP! I think that about sums it up, doesn’t it?

Aluna has always been a kind of mysterious & effervescent figure in music to me since I first heard her unmistakeable voice via AlunaGeorge, and more recently started to see her name as a solo artist. “I’m in Control” has always been a fave of mine.

My interest was super piqued, then, when I started to see her popping up in the web3 music space. Click on her linktree to learn more about what she’s up to in terms of NFTs; a quick look reveals a perfume collection, fashion in the form of the Cocoa Cream Cake Puffer, and of course, the Poodle Squad Headphones!

The most exciting Aluna project to me is coming up in May in the form of Noir Fever, a 3-day festival in New Orleans curated by Aluna, described as a celebration of Black and Queer trailblazers in dance music. It’s getting tons of press & attention, as it should; it is really fucking exciting musically, spiritually, mentally, PHYSICALLY!….

It is this ambition, vision, and follow-through that is so inspiring to me, and many other artists with big web3 dreams, I’m sure. Noir Fever is the first dance music festival I’ve ever felt called to by a long shot, and indeed, it goes beyond the music to pique my web3 curiosity as well, as there will be panels & convos that will no doubt be incredible.

Aluna is showing us that this is the kind of true community building and space creating for people with marginalized identities that is possible in the world of web3 music, and I’m so excited to see where she leads the culture next. For now, I’m keeping an eye on flights.
