spotlight: Charm Taylor

Web3 is no small thing — just ask Charm Taylor!

Charm (she/her) brings her magic to the i-wave spotlight this week, and while her music shines and speaks brilliantly on its own, it’s Charm the extraordinary person all around that sets her apart. Her long list of accolades range from curating art exhibits, to motherhood, to fronting a post punk band for five years (!), to recently selling out her music NFT for “Fresh Air” on sound

From its opening soulful notes, “Fresh Air” is the kind of record that artists at all levels reach for every time we hit the studio: storytelling songwriting that pulls the listener in; an undeniable groove; a hook that stays with you and lifts you up. Phew! A record this hard is the result of years of honing her sound, and honing herself.

CHARM

A listen through Charm’s debut album, 2021’s SHE IS THE FUTURE, is a colorful journey through a kaleidoscope of styles & sounds. Charm tells stories of her life, her ancestors, her community. Her work is political and urgent while also feeling celebratory and hopeful. Lyrically, Charm the MC wastes not one word, and you’ll find yourself hanging on to every one of them. These songs are not crafted for record execs and TikTok snippets; this is a creator in her element at (soul) work.

Web3 has proven to be a place where independent artists can bloom by both finding a new audience and bigger financial gains. After spending some time with Charm and her work, I’m thrilled to see her recognized in new & meaningful ways. “And even if you feel you are off path, you’re not off path.” – “THE PATH,” Charm Taylor

Days of the week where I’m not taking or giving calls, and the art! Making art that speaks always to the internal and external happenings.
